Act 28 - Go guerilla

Act 28 focuses on meeting someone’s need without telling them – for example, cleaning a neighbour’s car, picking up litter in a public place – without drawing attention to yourself.  It’s not easy to be inconspicuous though with two small children in tow!  So I focused instead on the idea of the raknomination (doing a random act of kindness) mentioned later in the post and have been putting together a slideshow video for a couple of friends.  It won’t be a secret who sent the video but hopefully they will like it and it will come as a nice surprise for them.

Act 16 - Bake it, make it, take it

Today’s act invites us to bake some cakes and give them out to people.  I love baking so any excuse to get my mixing bowl out was very welcome!  Jessica also loves to help mummy make cake and was very happy sitting at the table with her cake cases and some cake mix (most of which went straight into her mouth rather than into the cases!)  As we weren’t really able to get out and about today, I will be giving the cakes to hubby to take for the rest of the crew tomorrow doing the get-in for a show.

Act 14: Shhhhh!

Today’s act is all about anonymous giving.  After taking the time to listen to someone on day 9, we are now encouraged to respond to a need which was mentioned then and meet it anonymously.  Which makes it quite hard to blog about!  That said, I couldn’t recall a need mentioned on day 9 that I could meet anonymously or otherwise.  After some thought and looking at some of the suggestions posted on social media sites, I did manage to give something anonymously, but I’m going to have to keep schtum about it – otherwise it may not stay that way!

Act 2 - Create a generosity jar

Today’s act ties up quite nicely with one of my other Lent ‘projects’ – WaterAid’s ‘Jars of Change’ which involves putting the money saved from giving up something for Lent into a jar which will then be donated to WaterAid at the end of Lent and help provide clean water for villages in Sierra Leone.  Admittedly what I have given up this Lent (which I blush to admit is swearing – and hopefully not just for Lent either) will only raise money if I slip up and put my fines in the jar so most of it will probably be loose change.
